Background

Every Local Authority is required to have an Area Child Protection Committee (ACPC). This is a group of senior managers from a range of statutory and voluntary agencies and organisations who work with children and their families.

We (The ACPC), working within a national framework of guidance and legislation, are responsible for ensuring that all local relevant agencies work together to protect children and young people. Our key document continues to be “Working Together to Safeguard Children.”

We do this by:
  • developing and agreeing to operate local policies and protocols to promote and enhance the joint working of its constituent agencies
  • monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of child protection procedures and services for children and their families.
  • providing training for staff within the County to ensure that they can provide a high quality service.
